Antonio Smothers earned his IFBB Pro Card by winning the 2016 NPC USA Championships Men's Physique Overall. Twenty-three at the show. First attempt at the Class D division, first attempt at the overall. Won both. The Pro Card came in the same hand.
The next nine years were not a highlight reel. He competed steadily through 2022, fifth at Golden State, third at Wasatch Warrior, mid-pack finishes at Sacramento and Titans where the difference between making the call-out and going home was whatever the judges saw that afternoon. Three years off the stage followed. Marriage. Coaching. Sacramento. The work continued. The contests didn't.
He came back in April 2025 and won the IFBB St. Louis Pro Men's Physique with a perfect prejudging score, beating Chevy Phillips and Rhyan Clark, both heavily favored. First professional win. First Olympia qualification. Nine years between the Pro Card and the title he was training for. Nine years of work nobody saw, and one weekend that proved every session was worth it.
That's the lifter THRUX is built for. Not the prodigy. Not the overnight story. The person who keeps showing up after they get the credential, the way Antonio kept showing up after the Pro Card arrived. The pouch in the lip when there is no one to perform for. THRUX is a serious lifter's pouch, and Antonio is the archetype.
